Clarence Valley Strategy

Prior to amalgamation, the Councils of the Clarence valley strategic planning had a very dispirit character. This strategy was prepared on behalf of all the Councils of the Clarence as a comprehensive Urban Settlement Strategy. Preparation of this Strategy required intensive liaison with the various Councils, balancing their individual needs and aspirations against the provisions of the North Coast Regional Plan and other prevailing planning policies, to develop a formal urban planning framework for the sub region.

This Strategy was unique – never before in Northern New South Wales, had the Councils of a single valley co-ordinated in such a strategic and comprehensive planning exercise to define their urban strategy for the next 20 years.
